The largest intact caldera in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater is sometimes referred to as Africa’s “Garden of Eden”. It spans 264 km2 and is home to over 30,000 animals, including the endangered black rhino, wildebeest, cheetah, elephant, and buffalo. It is 19 km cross. With a rich history and an abundance of wildlife, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are some of Tanzania’s most breathtaking locations.
Hiking tours through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are gaining popularity as an alternative to vehicle safaris to the Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge, and neighboring attractions. In either case, a memorable aspect of visiting Tanzania is visiting the Crater Highlands.
