As the world’s second-largest nation, Canada has a lot to offer, with breathtaking mountainous landscapes, national parks and coastlines, and a melting pot of cultures, languages and people. From the Gothic architecture and fairytale castles of Québec, to Alberta’s Sulphur Mountain offering panoramic views of six Canadian Rockies mountain ranges, Canada has everything for the outdoorsy traveller.
Then there’s the cosmopolitan cities of Vancouver and Toronto, offering up everything from exceptional world-class cuisine, to art, museums, parks, attractions, endless shopping and nightlife.
Take a trip up the iconic CN Towner, before meandering around St Lawrence Market – perhaps the most famous market in Toronto. Also worth a visit is the Bata Show Museum, housing more than 13,000 different types of shoe (and some famous pairs, too!) In Vancouver, no trip is complete without visiting the tranquil Chinese gardens of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, before visiting the Richmond night market for some tasty street eats. Canada has it all, no matter what your itinerary.
Canada has four seasons, like the UK, so there are positives and negatives to travelling in every one of them. It is generally agreed that the best time to visit Canada (for warm weather), is in the summer months of June-August. At this time, in cities like Toronto, temperatures can reach a balmy 26°C, but can be very busy. Autumn months are also a great time to visit Canada (from September-November), as tourist attractions and hotels are less crowded and more affordable. The weather cools down, but is still pleasant. You’ll also find plenty of autumnal festivals to enjoy against the backdrop of beautiful changing foliage. Bear in mind that Canada is a large country, so different locations will have different temperatures and best times to visit.

I immediately fell in love with Canada when I first travelled to Vancouver in 1979. From there, I qualified as one of the first Canada Specialists based in the UK, appointed by the Canadian Tourism Commission, and have tailored many memorable itineraries for my clients ever since. I have been awarded the UK’s Top Canada Specialist three times and have visited most of the country’s provinces on numerous occasions. This experience allows me to advise and design travel itineraries that are focused on individuals, rather than being generically packaged.
My present role as MD is diverse and rewarding. I am passionate about delivering an outstanding customer centred service with a team of people who love their job and have the same values. Our Canada Specialist
I have visited the spectacular country of Canada several times, including explorations via rail and most memorably, the Rocky Mountaineer. I have specialised in this region for 8 years now and in 2018, I was delighted to be nominated for Canadian Specialist of the Year.
For me, the most memorable element of so many regions of Canada is the diversity of its wildlife – from grizzly bears to killer whales; leaping salmon to soaring bald eagles; all sorts of phenomenal creatures flourish amidst the beauty of this wondrous country. Food wise, Canada has a lot to offer. I recommend trying their national dish, poutine, which is a hearty dish of French fries, fresh cheese curds, and lashings of luscious gravy. Canada is also notorious for their deliciously indulgent ‘Beaver Tails’ – fried dough pastries, shaped to resembles beaver tails, and then commonly topped with Nutella. Who wants to diet on holiday anyway?
